# Vault Intelligence

Vault Intelligence lets you ask questions of the notes you own. Answers are grounded in indexed vault content and point back to the notes that supplied the context.

## Why it exists

A large vault contains answers that are hard to retrieve with one query. Vault Intelligence helps you compare, summarize, and reconnect ideas while keeping the source notes in view.

## When to use it

Use it when you need a synthesis across several notes, a cited summary of a project, or a way into material you wrote months ago.

## Workflow

Index vault → ask a focused question → inspect citations → open source notes → revise the question or write a new note.

## Example

```text
What have I learned about protecting attention?
```

Use the citations to verify the answer and continue the thread in the original notes.

> **OpenOnyx tip**
> Ask questions that name a decision, a tension, or a time range. Specific questions produce more useful source trails.

> **OpenOnyx common mistake**
> Do not treat an answer as a replacement for its citations. Your notes remain the authority.
