Spaces

Spaces are collections of indexed knowledge you can query, share, and revisit. A local Space keeps its index on your device; cloud features are optional.

Why it exists

A vault answers personal questions. A Space gives a defined body of knowledge a durable thinking surface with retrieval and citations.

When to use it

Use a Space for a research collection, team handbook, project archive, or any group of notes that benefits from focused questions.

Workflow

Choose source notes → index the Space → ask a question → inspect sources → improve the source notes when the answer exposes a gap.

Example

Summarize the decisions made in this project and cite each decision note.

OpenOnyx tip
Create a Space around a real question. “Everything I own” is usually less useful than a focused collection.

OpenOnyx common mistake
Indexing improves retrieval; it does not make weak source notes reliable. Keep important facts in the vault.
